1. Stillwater Half-Marathon or 5K
May 23 – Stillwater
This unique half marathon course takes participants along the beautiful Gateway Trail in Washington County, Minnesota and through the streets of historic Stillwater, ending at Pioneer Park high on the bluffs above downtown Stillwater with a panoramic view of the St. Croix river valley. Runners on the 5K course (walkers are welcome too) begin at Browns Creek Park and share a common finish line at Pioneer Park.
2. Canoeing 101
May 24, 8-10 a.m. – Soudan
Why does my canoe not go where I want it to? Why does my canoe not go in a straight line? If you have these questions or if you have never canoed before, join our trained canoe instructor to learn the basics of canoeing. The program will cover basic strokes, techniques, and safety practices to make your canoeing experiences enjoyable.
3. Spring Wellness Pop-up at BangBang Salon
May 22, 5-7 p.m. – Minneapolis
Embrace spring at this wellness pop-up event, where south Minneapolis’ BangBang Salon has partnered with Truce Juice, Minneapolis Wellness, Wind & Willow, and the Angry Cabbage to create an event to help you look and feel your best.
4. Outdoor Kids and Family Day
May 23, 10 a.m. -3 p.m. – Mille Lacs Kathio State Park
This day of fun and outdoor learning is for kids and their families! Ongoing demonstrations and displays from 10am to 3pm include Kids Fish Casting Range, Game Fish Identification, Telescopes and Astronomy, T.I.P. wall of Shame and Wildlife Art for Kids. Jim Gerholdt will show Remarkable Reptiles from 11am to 2pm. Kids with parents can try out a canoe or kayak from 10 am to noon. Archery in the Park, for ages 8 and older, will run from noon to 3 pm. Smokey Bear will make special appearances from 1 to 1:15 and again from 2 to 2:15.
