Happy Halloween! After the candy is dished out and the cobwebs are put away – you might think what’s next? Well, we are challenging you and your family to get out on Turkey Day and do a trot.

We’ve got 5 picks for you:

  1. Turkey Day Trail Trot – Battle Creek Park, St. Paul – 8 a.m.

This trail race has a mix of mid and long distance options.

2. Tonka Turkey Trot – Minnetonka High School, Minnetonka – 8:30 a.m.

The 6th Annual Tonka Turkey Trot is a 5K run/walk geared towards families.

3. Drumstick Dash – Lake Harriet, Minneapolis – 7:30 a.m.

There a multiple races including a 1 mile, a kid’s half-mile and a 10K.

4. Beast 2 Feast 5K – Lake Calhoun, Minneapolis – 9 a.m.

This race is a benefit for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

There is a 6K and a 10K option, with an early start to get you back in the kitchen before noon.

Skyfit is an app which streams classes for runners. If you’ve ever been to a spin class at a gym or a studio, it’s a very similar experience, except for runners. The classes consist of three key components

Music – The trainers diligently select popular music which works perfectly with a given run speed or incline. Specifically, the beats per minute of the track will match the pace of your run. This helps motivate you, and ultimately have a more efficient run.

Motivation – Throughout the class, trainers provide the motivation you need to push your run to the next level.

Instruction – Trainers will give you instructions on what incline and speed to go throughout the class, to ensure you have an efficient and effective run. For treadmill runs, trainers provide incline and speed. For elliptical, trainers provide incline and resistance. And for outdoor runs, the trainers provide relative speed instructions.

Saturday, October 10 – BIG Bike Donation Day

From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Free Bikes 4 Kidz is a nonprofit organization geared toward helping all kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need.

Bring your gently used bike to any Allina Health Hospital or most clinics.
