Survive the Thunderstorms this Weekend – Aug 21-23

It is going to be a rainy weekend – treat yourself to a hot class indoors at one of the top fitness studios in the Twin Cities.

Here are a few of our favorites:

  1. The Firm

Cycling, Crossfit, Yoga – all under one roof. Plus – first week is free.

     2. Alchemy

Alchemy is group fitness transformed. Combining the best of yoga, strength training, and high intensity conditioning, Alchemy provides an unmatched group fitness experience. This complete fitness program can be customized to the needs of any individual, regardless of background, experience, or injury and will yield noticeable and measurable results. At Alchemy, we believe that fitness changes lives and aim to facilitate those transformations in our local communities.

First class is only $10!

     3. Studio ME

New class alert! Need a jump start to your training program? Participate in high intensity interval training exercises in this 8 week program. This short duration, but high intensity interval training (HIIT) creates a prolonged afterburn, or EPOC (excess post oxygen consumption). This type of training causes the body to take longer to return to its state of rest, so it continues to burn calories (5x more) at a higher rate long after the workout session has completed. Put simply, a 4-minute Tabata Bootcamp™ workout can reap the same benefits as a longer but steady workout, like running for a half hour. We will use equipment such as the WaterRower, plyometrics and weight training to increase cardio and muscular endurance all while blasting away that stubborn fat.

First class if free for new members!

     4. Surge Cycling

At Surge Cycling, we’ve formulated the finest indoor cycling experience in Minneapolis.

Prepare for the sweatiest, heart-pumping and entertaining workout in St. Louis Park and the greater Twin Cities

     5. Hot Sculpt

Heat Yoga Studio is a community based studio offering heated and non-heated yoga classes for students of all levels. Our diverse program includes classes like HOT Yoga (104-105 Degrees), Intermediate (98-100 Degrees), Restorative Yoga (No Heat), Gentle Flow (Warm), Rocket, Broga and Yoga Sculpt. We begin bright and early for those who practice before work and hold classes conveniently 7 days per week. Heat Yoga is committed to providing high quality instruction in a welcoming, loving and respectful environment. Whether you’re looking for a good sweat, deep stretch or a mental recovery flow there’s something for everyone.

3. Conquer Your Mountain Bike

Times Vary, Iron Range

Avid mountain bikers are buzzing about the state-of-the-art network of mountain bike trails at Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area at Crosby, near the Brainerd Lakes area. This 22-mile trail network winds through a landscape created by 70 years of iron ore mining. This man-made terrain consists of old mining pits and tall piles of ruddy rock excavated from the pits. Nature is working on reclaiming the area: water has filled the pits and turned them into 15 deep lakes, and trees and shrubs have taken root on the rugged landscape. As it turns out, it’s a landscape perfect for crafting a maze of trails to conquer by bike.

Weekend 5 – It’s June!

1. Lola’s Half Marathon! Saturday, June 6.

Lola’s Lake Waconia Half Marathon promises to provide one of the most scenic race routes in the greater Twin Cities area.  It starts near City Square Park in lovely Waconia, weaves through the city then winds around beautiful Lake Waconia where you’ll catch your breath and to the finish at the park.

There’s something for everyone:  the half marathon, 2-person 1/2 marathon relay, a 10 mile, the 5k run/walk that is dog friendly.  Wrap it up by attending the fun “after-party” at Lola’s Lakehouse with lunch, live music, photo opportunities and more…only two blocks from the finish line.

2. Trinona! June 6-7 – Winona-

There are few places on this planet that are more perfectly suited to host a triathlon than Winona, Minnesota. With every stroke, pedal and stride during Life Time Tri Trinona, you’ll encounter incredible views and beautiful terrain. It will begin at dawn, as you set up in transition in front of Lake Winona and look up to see Sugarloaf Bluff rising above the town below. Following the swim, you will begin your journey into the true calling card for this event, the Mississippi River Bluff Country.

But there is a price to pay for all this ambiance. The terrain that makes this race so inviting is the very same terrain that makes this event one of the most challenging triathlons in the Midwest.

3. Sunday Morning Yoga Sunday, June 7 –10:30 a.m. – Boom Island. Yoga in the Park will continue.  If the weather cooperates, we will all meet at Boom Island Park in NE Minneapolis.  The class can be found near the bike path next to the river.  There is no obligation to attend this class, however I will accept voluntary donations to help cover costs of the meetup site and other expenses related to the group.  No experience is necessary as any and all levels of experience is welcome.

It’s free fun for the whole family. We are excited to have been invited to hold even more new events, and look forward to working with local residents, community groups, neighborhood groups, and businesses to make sure the events are a huge success!
